At TNS we have a set process to ensure successful installation for our clients. As we offer a full turnkey solution for clients which include some of the following services:
- Fibre Optic Splicing

- Underground Cabling
What is blown fibre?
Blown fibre has been around for many years, with micro cables being more widely available with large fibre counts longer distances can be achieved reducing the amount of joint locations. Plus a quicker time to repair than conventional methods. Micro cables are slimmer and lighter allowing these to be blown, or floated reducing time and installation cost. Over the years it has evolved and is now used on modern network builds worldwide including:
Telecom Core trunk (spine) networks
Telecom distribution and access networks
Metropolitan networks
Local area and wide area networks
Installation of Subduct
The installation of subduct, allows organisation to install into existing ducted network and blow cables using specialist machines instead of the old conventional method of pulling. As well as installing in a ducted network it can also be directly buried in the ground or even overhead. Care should be taken when installing subduct to ensure it is not stretched during the installation as this will stop the cable being installed.
Not all civils contractors follow this rule and end up overstreching the subduct. TNS has seen this happen to many clients calling us in to support them.
Thats why at TNS we have proven process and procedures when testing subduct to ensure duct integraty before we blow or float cables in.
Upgrading networks become cost effective, when done correctly even emergency repairs can be reduced, but only if it was installed correctly when first installed. The benefits of subducted, blown cable and fibre allows the following:
- Easy to upgrade
- Easy to add new building within a complex
- Easy to repair in fault conditions compared to normal fibre
- Quicker installation reducing on going costs
